Wine Lovers Gift Guide {2010}  Print

We just looked at the calendar and realized there are less than two weeks until Christmas! Wasn’t Thanksgiving just yesterday?! Our tree and decorations aren’t up yet and we haven’t even settled on what to bake or cook for gifts and celebrations. We could use some serious elf–help around here! Even if writing blog posts was a known elf skill, it is doubtful there would be enough time for even some of Santa’s most magical helpers to get us on holiday track. It’s almost unfortunate that we found so many wine–appealing ideas for gifts this year. We’re worried WikiLeaks might be coming after us if we don’t divulge them all. So without further ado, we present our third list of this year’s wino–pleasing items.

Category Three: Bottle {Bags, Caddies & Carriers}

PACKiT Bottle Service Wine BagTraveling with a chilled wine bottle or two? Tired of looking for missing icepacks or putting ice cubes in leaky plastic baggies? Do yourself and the environment a favor. We loved their lunch bags so much, we had to try their practical, eco–friendly Bottle Service Wine Bag. Folded to about the size of one Lean Cuisine, pull the bag from your freezer for a 10–hour chill for two wine bottles. The eco–gel packs are built in and sweat–proof. From PACKiT, starting at $24.99. Now that’s cool!

Williams–Sonoma Skybar Wine Bottle TravelerWilliams–Sonoma offers a stylish new Skybar Wine Bottle Traveler. Designed to keep a standard wine or Champagne bottle cool for up to two hours, its insulated construction prevents drips and condensation. A convenient handle makes this wine tote easy to carry. If you’re giving it away, you’ll be happy to know it even includes a special tag to personalize your gift. Priced at $19.95, it comes in red or gray (sorry, no green). Easy to carry, and so easy to get carried away!

Wisteria Cheers Wine Jute BagWhat says “Cheers” more than a Cheers Wine Jute Bag from Wisteria. A set of four in varying languages will make you a hit at any party. The set is priced at $16, but is on sale for 30% off on their website at the moment! They also offer a similar set with wine quotes on them for those who feel the need to say more than simply “Salud”!

VivaTerra Root of the Earth Wine CaddyThere seems to be no end to the creative ways to present a bottle of fine wine at a celebration dinner. An eco–natural approach is suggested by VivaTerra, a company “inspired by our dedication to living in harmony with nature—for a healthier life now and for future generations”. Their Root of the Earth Wine Caddy is a distinctive bottle rest carved from Chinese burl and costs $39. The wine you select makes the presentation complete. Double happiness!

NapaStyle Vintner's Leather Wine BagsLast but not least, if you’re into leather (with or without the whip), then we’ve got just the item for you. NapaStyle boasts imported, handmade Vintner’s Leather Wine Bags in various sizes. Priced at $49 for the one–bottle size, $69 for two bottles and $79 for four bottles, be sure not to fill these with your Two Buck Chuck. On second thought, since these bags aren’t decorated specifically for the holidays, you might consider keeping one for yourself!
